Hollaback Dolphin
Tursiops truncatus. © 1991 Randall Wells
To the tune of "Hollaback Girl" performed by: Gwen Stefani
mmmm...it's our mammal, it's our mammal (x2)
We heard that you wanted to learn bout the bottlenose dolphin
Well we're here to tell you what you wanna know
They do not attack, but they travel in packs
Use echolocation to scope you out
That's right they can see you- using only sound
Chorus 1:
Few times they swim round those seas
Dive 300 meters then up to breathe
'Cause they ain't no normal mammal
They have to use their blowhole
(repeat)
They have a dorsal fin to help them to swim
Use pectoral flippers to steer and stop
Both are used for balance so they must work as one
Move flukes up and down, a part of their tail
Have to give it their all in order to swim
Tursiops truncatus is the number one!
Chorus 2:
Few times they swim round those seas
Search for squid, crustaceans and fishies
But they don't chew their food no,
They just eat it whole yo
(repeat)
This mammal has a fin....D-O-L-P-H-I-N
This mammal likes to swim....D-O-L-P-H-I-N
Chorus 3:
Few times they swim round those seas
Looking for a partner with which to breed
Mature after 12 years,
Babies soon...appear
(repeat)
