Maria Franco

For several years I have been dedicated to the direct observation of the life cycle and behavior of native butterflies within my geographic region (Mexico City). I have created an open habitat where butterflies are free to come and go. Through personal experience I have learned about their best larval food plant, their favorite ones for nectar, as well as their main predators. I have documented in both photographs and video, their different life stages and behavior of 16 species so far. The number of species increases every year. My professional instructors are my daughter Daniela Buzo, graduate student at Texas State University in San Marcos , Tx., Department of Biology, and my son Andres Buzo, undergraduate student at Academy of Art University in San Francisco, Ca., School of Animation & Visual Effects.
